520 COVID-19 patients have been reported in the country. It is the second consecutive day reporting 500+ cases. The Kuliyapitiya Police Division will be isolated from midnight today.

Tighter restrictions have been imposed in Sri Lanka as the world is seeing a rise in the number of infections reported everyday (881,124 in the last 24 hours).

General Shavendra Silva urged the public to refrain from travelling during the long weekend, while State Minister of Health Dr Sudarshini Fernandopulle stated that the Ministry of Healgh is considering banning public events.

Minister of Education Professor GL Peiris informed parliament that the universities in the country will remain closed for another two weeks. It has also been reported that the Infectious Diseases Hospital is operating at over capacity with 138 patients being treated, while the hospital has a capacity of 120 beds. It is also reported that the ICU beds in the hospital are all occupied.

Meanwhile, India recorded 300,000+ cases yesterday. The highest number to be reported in a day.
