Cardinal unhappy about Easter Sunday committee!

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appointed a committe headed by Minister Chamal Rajapaksa, comprising of members including Ministers Johnston Fernando, Udaya Gammanpila, Ramesh Pathirana, Prasanna Ranatunga and Rohitha Abeygunawardena to look study the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on the Easter Sunday Attacks.

Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith has expressed displeasure over the appointment of a committee to study the report. He stated that the report was compiled by intellectuals and that it should be submitted to the AG department instead of a committee. He also stated that the committee may be an attempt of a cover up.

He said so while speaking to residents of Katuwapitiya, where a protest had been organised against the government’s handling of the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on the Easter Sunday Attacks.
